Giorgi Sharashidze: Was Saakashvili not enough for us when he compared himself to David the Builder?! Now Kobakhidze thinks of himself as Erekle II?!

Was Saakashvili not enough for us when he compared himself to David the Builder?! Now Kobakhidze thinks of himself as Erekle II?! – this is how one of the leaders of the party “Gakharia for Georgia,” Giorgi Sharashidze, responds to the statements of Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze about the “Treaty of Georgievsk” and Erekle II.

According to him, the protection of sovereignty and the strengthening of statehood do not mean isolation.

“A very big apology, let Mr. Kobakhidze not commit blasphemy. Is he comparing himself to King Erekle? Was Saakashvili not enough for us when he compared himself to David the Builder?! Now Kobakhidze thinks of himself as Erekle II? A very big apology, let him mind his own business.

The protection of our country’s sovereignty and the strengthening of statehood do not mean isolation; they do not mean rejection of cooperation with the European Union and our partners, do they? This means that Georgia must be a sovereign country and at the same time a member of a strong European family. It is clear that the ‘Georgian Dream’ regime does not intend to fulfill the order of the Georgian people, which is entry into the European family with traditions and sovereignty. This is the treacherous behavior that today’s ‘Dream’ is unfortunately committing,” Sharashidze noted.

For information, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze noted that Erekle II’s choice was civilizational, and that “the fact that today Georgia is a Christian country based on European culture is precisely thanks to this step, and they are faithful to this civilizational choice.”

“Today we are faithful to this civilizational choice – we want to be part of the traditional civilizational world. Including the aspiration toward the European Union is based on this. This is our choice, and when we have the ambition of integration into the European space, this too is thanks to that wise decision which our great king made in his time,” the Prime Minister noted.
