It is impossible to implement a project of such scale without the city feeling any discomfort at all. Therefore our request is - for two months let us all be patient together so that we get a result that we will all be proud of for many years, - this was stated by the Mayor of Tbilisi, Kakha Kaladze, regarding the ongoing rehabilitation works on Rustaveli Avenue.

As the mayor stated in his video address, since the works are quite large-scale, from September, for approximately two months, Tbilisi will have a difficult period in terms of movement; however, this is temporary discomfort so that in the future the capital will have a fully renovated Rustaveli Avenue.

“The works that we are carrying out here today are large-scale and fundamental. We are not only replacing the asphalt surface; we are fully renewing the amortised underground communications and infrastructure that have remained untouched for decades. I well understand that all of this is accompanied by serious discomfort, first of all for the people living in the adjacent territory - problems with movement, noise, dust, temporary restriction of communications. For this reason, I want to apologise to each of them and express special gratitude for their patience.

The most difficult period is still ahead of us. From September a large part of the citizens will return to the city, the academic process will begin and vehicle traffic will increase significantly. I will tell you directly: for approximately two months Tbilisi will have a difficult period in terms of movement. Therefore, I want to ask each Tbilisian in advance for patience and a correct understanding of the ongoing process. This is not discomfort that is created because nothing is being done in the city. On the contrary, this is temporary discomfort so that for the following decades we will have a fully renovated Rustaveli Avenue and modern infrastructure,” the Mayor of Tbilisi stated.

According to him, the City Hall is working maximally on refining alternative movement schemes in order to reduce the load as much as possible. In addition, as the mayor noted, citizens will be informed in advance about all changes and decisions.

“I want to say sincerely - it is impossible to implement a project of such scale without the city feeling any discomfort at all. Therefore our request is - for two months let us all be patient together so that we get a result that we will all be proud of for many years,” Kakha Kaladze stated.

According to him, the development of the city always requires tough decisions, labour and patience.

“Today we have to endure temporary discomfort, but in a few months we will have a fully renovated Rustaveli Avenue that will adorn Tbilisi. Therefore, once again I ask you - let us show patience, a little more consideration and respect for one another on the roads. These two months will pass, and the renovated Rustaveli will remain for Tbilisi,” the Mayor of Tbilisi noted.
