“Mamuka Mdinaradze’s departure is a loss, but we respect his decision. He himself said that he has never sent a letter to anyone, and everything else is absolute speculation,” Archil Gorduladze, Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Legal Affairs, told journalists.

According to him, “Mamuka Mdinaradze has left a significant mark through his 10 years of political activity.”

“His contribution is enormous to our team. Of course, his departure is a loss. At the same time, we have the utmost respect for him and his decision. He made the decision that he considered most appropriate based on various circumstances, which he himself explained.

“He repeatedly mentioned that this would be followed by various speculations and rumors [regarding Irakli Garibashvili’s statements], but he spoke very sincerely. He was very sincere in what he said. Anyone who knows this person would have been convinced of his sincerity. He himself has said that he has never sent a letter to anyone. Everything else is absolute speculation,” Gorduladze said.

For reference, Mamuka Mdinaradze, who most recently served as Regional Development Minister, announced at an emergency briefing held at the Government Administration that he was resigning from his position and leaving politics. According to Mdinaradze, his 10 years in politics had been 10 years of hard work, devotion to his homeland and working with friends to accomplish great things for the country. He also said that he had been considering leaving politics for the past several weeks.

Mdinaradze also said that he may try his hand at another field, including business. Asked about a possible return to politics, he said that this could happen only in a situation of extreme necessity.

“I think I deserve some time to rest and take care of my family. My children have practically grown up without me. If the team really needs me and there is no other solution, I will return only in that case,” Mdinaradze said.
