Journalist Nanuka Zhorzholiani does not intend to appear at the investigative agency for questioning in the Lazare Jorbenadze case today and plans to appear in court for questioning in the presence of a magistrate judge.

As Zhorzholiani told Palitranews, the statement of the Prosecutor's Office means that the government is very afraid.

“I was summoned, but I will go to court tomorrow. I have been summoned regarding my status regarding Irakli Gharibashvili. Although I cooperate with the investigation in all my cases and always go to them for questioning, now I have chosen my very important personal cases. Irakli Gharibashvili’s case is not that important to me. In my opinion, this is an attempt to send a message to others that being active on this topic and writing public statuses will cause this discomfort, that they will have to go to court. In my opinion, this is the only purpose of summoning us for questioning,” Nanuka Zhorzholiani said.

She believes that the letters made public by former Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili are important and noteworthy.

"I thought Irakli Gharibashvili's letter was a bit frivolous, but now I completely rule out frivolity because they are reaching such a crazy impasse. For me, this topic is a manifestation of fear. They are sending a message to Khatia Dekanoidze, Nika Gvaramia, and all socially active people: 'Now I have summoned these people for questioning, and imagine what will we do to you?'" This means that they are very afraid,” said Nanuka Zhorzholiani.

For information, according to the Georgian Prosecutor’s Office, a number of investigative and procedural actions have been carried out on the suicide of Lazare Jorbenadze on April 4, 2026, within the framework of the investigation ongoing at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and at this stage, the fact of suicide has been unequivocally confirmed.

According to the same information, nevertheless, based on the public statements made by Irakli Gharibashvili and other persons convicted in the case, under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office, within the framework of the ongoing investigation at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Nika Gvaramia; Irma Inashvili; Nanuka Zhorzholiani; Khatia Dekanoidze; Tazo Datunashvili; Gia Khukhashvili; Giorgi Liluashvili; Zaza Davitaia; Ermile Nemsadze; Giorgi Gigauri will be questioned. According to the office, the Irakli Gharibashvili will also be questioned in the legal case.
