According to a statement by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, the former head of the State Security Service (SSS), Gela Geladze, will take the position of Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs.

“Today, SSS head Geka Geladze left the position he held. First of all, I would like to thank Geka Geladze for the work he has done. Geka Geladze is an exceptionally conscientious person and an outstanding professional. Both while serving as Minister of Internal Affairs and as head of the State Security Service, he made a very significant contribution to ensuring state security and to the fight against crime, including organized drug-related and corruption crimes.

Geka Geladze will take the position of Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs. With his knowledge and experience, he will significantly strengthen the team of Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs. Once again, I thank Geka Geladze for the work he has done and wish him success,” Kobakhidze stated.

As a reminder, before moving to the SSS, Gela Geladze held the position of Minister of Internal Affairs. As for the State Security Service, Geladze announced today that he was leaving the post of head of the agency in a post published on social media.
