Georgian Dream has added our party, For Georgia, to the lawsuit filed with the Constitutional Court that aims to ban opposition parties, - Giorgi Gakharia, leader of Gakharia for Georgia, writes on social media.

"Georgian Dream added our party, For Georgia, to their Constitutional Court lawsuit aimed at banning opposition parties. Despite severe constraints, we have consistently participated in every election, which we consider the sole peaceful and democratic pathway for political change. Our party remains the only opposition party currently serving in Parliament. By targeting us, Ivanishvili is attempting to ban the country’s only functional parliamentary opposition. Despite having the parliamentary majority, the Ivanishvili regime couldn't stand even the single opposition party in the parliament, as they have nothing to respond to the critical voice.

This is yet another step for the Ivanishvili regime to officially establish authoritarian rule in Georgia and suppress the political opposition. Banned or not, we will not back down from restoring Georgia's democracy and safeguarding its European and Euro-Atlantic path," Gakharia wrote on X.

Notably, Georgian Dream is petitioning the Constitutional Court to ban the Gakharia for Georgia party as well. Majority leader Irakli Kirtskhalia announced this at a briefing following yesterday's meeting of the parliamentary majority.

A constitutional lawsuit will be submitted to the Constitutional Court this week, with the party of former Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia included in the list.
