World Bank's Practice Manager for Transport in Europe and Central Asia: The Middle Corridor has become a reality

The Middle Corridor has become a reality, - Shomik Mehndiratta, World Bank's Practice Manager for Transport in Europe and Central Asia, told journalists.

"I am pleased that today we are presenting the World Bank's new report on the Middle Corridor. The report notes that, against the backdrop of geopolitical shifts, this corridor - which was previously merely an ambition - has now become a reality," said Shomik Mehndiratta.

According to him, the Middle Corridor constitutes a crucial part of the region's supply chains.

"The report highlights that a significant portion of the infrastructure required for the corridor's operation is already under construction and will come online within the next four to five years, thereby fostering the corridor's growth. The next stage involves moving from potential to results. This corridor has the potential to be competitive for freight transport from the East toward Europe. Achieving this requires close cooperation among all countries in the region," Mehndiratta noted.
