Polling stations have closed in four Georgian municipalities—Vani, Tsalka, Dmanisi, and Akhmeta—where by-elections were held.
The elections were conducted using the majoritarian system.
Voters elected four majoritarian members to the municipal councils (Sakrebulo) of these municipalities. A total of seven polling stations were opened across the four electoral districts for the by-elections, including four in Tsalka. Polling stations were located in the village of Kasristskali (Akhmeta); between the villages of Velispiri and Ganakhleba (Dmanisi); in the villages of Imera, Bareti, Sabechisi, and Livadi (Tsalka); and in the village of Pereta (Vani).
Both electronic and traditional voting methods were employed. Electronic verification and vote-counting machines were used at three polling stations in Tsalka and one in Vani.
The total number of eligible voters was 2,225. Fifty voters submitted requests to the election administration for the use of a mobile ballot box. Seven majoritarian candidates nominated by two political parties have been registered for the elections. Candidates from the electoral subjects Georgian Dream and Strong Georgia – Lelo were registered in Dmanisi, Tsalka, and Vani, while only a Georgian Dream candidate was registered in Akhmeta.
A briefing is scheduled at the CEC for 9:00 PM.
