The parents of deceased programmer Tamar Bachaliashvili held a protest outside Rustavi Penitentiary Institution No. 12, carrying banners reading: “Grigol Liluashvili, speak out!” and “Irakli Garibashvili, speak out!”
Their demands were directed at the convicted former high-ranking officials Irakli Garibashvili and Grigol Liluashvili.
According to Tamar Bachaliashvili’s parents, former State Security Service chief Grigol Liluashvili and former Defence Minister Irakli Garibashvili possess information concerning their daughter’s death, and they are urging them to make it public.
“A few weeks ago, we sent letters to Liluashvili and Garibashvili demanding that they admit their involvement in Tamar Bachaliashvili’s murder and name the individuals who acted alongside them, because many people have blood on their hands over Tamar Bachaliashvili’s death.
“We do not know whether our letters reached their intended recipients, so we came to the prison to address Garibashvili and Liluashvili directly and urge them to confess to the crime, disclose all the circumstances surrounding this case that they know about, and, in a sense, save their souls.
“I am addressing them once again: a great deal depends on you. To ensure that you are not ultimately held solely responsible for Tamar Bachaliashvili’s murder, you should confess and name those who ordered and carried out the killing,” Teona Tamazashvili said.
According to Tamar Bachaliashvili’s father, Jumber Bachaliashvili, Grigol Liluashvili “knows everything” about his daughter’s death.
“It has been a month since we sent the letter, and there has still been no response. Liluashvili, why are you keeping silent? Does he think this will simply pass? That is out of the question!
“Liluashvili knows everything in detail: on whose orders the girl was killed and who carried out the act. He knows everything. Liluashvili has seen that all the torture inflicted on so many people, and his betrayal of the nation and the country, have not been rewarded. Even now, he should show at least a little humanity, respond to us and tell the truth. I will not let them get away with my daughter’s blood,” Jumber Bachaliashvili said.
