Dialogue is needed and true dialogue takes place when all of this is taken into account; this is specifically expressed in Georgia.
War has returned to Europe, trust has been undermined, the risk of further fragmentation and confrontation remains high, – this was stated by the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Vice-President of the Swiss Confederation and Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, Ignazio Cassis, after the meeting with Georgia’s Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maka Bochorishvili.
According to him, “the world has been turned upside down; security is no longer ensured the way we believed it was 10 years ago.”
“The security situation in the world region, in the South Caucasus, and the broader challenges facing this region are the central issues of our discussion.
As OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, I am aware of the serious challenges facing the European continent. It can be said that the world has been turned upside down; security is no longer ensured the way we believed it was 10 years ago. War has returned to Europe, trust has been undermined, the risk of further fragmentation and confrontation remains high. The value of the OSCE is that all participants sit around one table, regardless of the fact that they may have different positions. Dialogue is a necessary instrument in the fight against tension, for ways to move forward.
True dialogue takes place when all of this is taken into account, everyone is in their place and is ready to listen to each other. This is specifically expressed in Georgia. We will examine the role of the OSCE and its contribution in all dimensions of security. Switzerland is committed to peacebuilding, reconciliation and the protection of human rights. We discussed the values and principles that brought us together in the OSCE family,” – states Cassis.
