Vakho Sanaia: The goal of my detention is to silence society, but society will never be silenced; We will topple this regime; no matter how long it takes, it will inevitably end in our victory

"We will topple this regime; no matter how long it takes, it will inevitably end in our victory!" –journalist Vakho Sanaia stated at the time of his arrest. He has been sentenced to 30 days of administrative detention.

According to Sanaia, no amount of detentions can change the current situation.

"All the way! No amount of detention can change this situation. The primary goal behind my arrest is to silence the public—but the public will never be silenced. We will topple this regime; no matter how long it takes, it will inevitably end in our victory!'" Sanaia remarked.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs accuses Sanaia of insulting political officials through three posts published on social media. It is worth noting that journalist Vakho Sanaia had previously served a 14-day administrative detention; he was detained near his home on July 22. At that time, the 14-day sentence was imposed due to a social media post concerning the Speaker of Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, and Member of Parliament Vladimir Bozhadze. The case was brought to the Tbilisi City Court by the Division for Combating Hate Speech—a unit established within the Ministry of Internal Affairs to address such content.
