Today clergymen speak like laypeople. A clergyman may even start swearing, express rage, may even hit someone. Such is already the state of affairs among clergymen today, unfortunately, — Metropolitan of Mroveli-Urbnisi Iob (Akiashvili) stated.
According to him, today part of the clergymen try to please society, post photos on Facebook, wait to see what someone will say, and have shifted all their attention to this.
“Unfortunately, the worldly spirit has invaded the Church. In the last times, clergymen will fall to the level of laypeople and laypeople will fall to the level of animals — exactly this time is in our time. People already have no sense of shame. Today clergymen speak like laypeople. Yet the speech of a clergyman is different; it should be more modest, more measured. Today a clergyman may even start swearing, express rage, may even hit someone. Unfortunately, such is already the state of affairs among clergymen today.
Today, part of our clergymen try to please society, post photos on Facebook, have shifted all their attention to this — what likes there will be, what someone will say. What comments will be written on Facebook — this is the main thing. They post their photos there, utter some words and wait for comments; their entire essence, their spiritual state has moved to social networks.
At this time God is forgotten. This state of affairs distances us from God. Today the devil is directed toward distancing humanity from God. Therefore, we should try to have less interaction with social networks, because they take our time,” Bishop Iob Akiashvili stated.
