Khatia Dekanoidze expelled from Constitutional Court hearing room

Khatia Dekanoidze, a leader of the National Movement, was made to leave a hearing at the Constitutional Court—a session currently addressing a petition to ban five opposition parties.

By decision of the Constitutional Court’s presiding judge, Revaz Nadaraia, Khatia Dekanoidze has been expelled from the courtroom for the duration of the entire proceedings.

Prior to this, Dekanoidze had submitted a motion requesting that Bidzina Ivanishvili, the Honorary Chairman of Georgian Dream, be summoned to testify as a witness.

"Do you not care about the future of this country? Do you not care whether or not our country signs an agreement on the non-use of force?" Dekanoidze asked the plenum.

Following these remarks, the presiding judge instructed the bailiffs to remove Dekanoidze from the courtroom, noting that she was making political statements. "Ms. Khatia Dekanoidze, despite numerous warnings, you have failed to comply with the directives issued during the court session; therefore, you are being removed from the courtroom," stated Rezo Nadaraia.

In response, Khatia Dekanoidze demanded to be allowed to finish presenting her motion.

"On what grounds are you removing me? For the sake of Bidzina Ivanishvili. Let me finish my motion!" Dekanoidze remarked.

The presiding official addressed the politician as follows:

"Someone else can present the motion; if you are so concerned about completing it, then conduct yourself as one ought to in a court of law. Remove her from the courtroom. Given the course of these proceedings, she will remain excluded unless the court grants a motion for her return," declared Revaz Nadaraia.
