Children’s Hospital Director : 99% of flu cases are due to H1N1 influenza virus

Analysis of Influenza dynamics in recent weeks and days indicate drop in flu cases, - Ivane Chkhaidze, Medical Director at Iashvili Children’s Hospital, told reporters at a news conference on Friday.

According to Ivane Chkhaidze, 63 patients with flu are being treated at the hospital.

The Medical Director at Iashvili Children’s Hospital explains that the number of influenza cases is “sharply increased compared to the last year”.

“The number is sharply increased compared to the last year. We did not have a laboratory- confirmed case of A-type flu virus last year, there were just two cases of B-type flu. There are 52 laboratory- confirmed cases of A-type flu virus this year. There are H1N1 in 99% of A-type flu virus cases. There were three patients with H3N2,” Ivane Chkhaidze said.
