Health officials say fifteen people die of “swine flu” in Georgia

Amiran Gamkrelidze, Director the National Centre for Disease Control and Public Health (NCDC), has confirmed that a 27-year-old man died of flu virus in Kutaisi, a city in western Georgia.

Amiran Gamkrelidze made a statement today, at a joint briefing with Davit Sergeenko, Minister of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia.

“I confirm the report about the death of a 27-year-old man at Kutaisi Referral Hospital. This is the laboratory confirmed case. Unfortunately, we have 15 laboratory -confirmed cases of death during the current flu season,” Amiran Gamkrelidze said.
