Exploitation permit was not issued for block apartment where explosion occurred

Tbilisi City Hall has not issued an exploitation permit for the block apartment located in Didi Dighomi, where a powerful explosion occurred yesterday.

InterPressNews was informed by Tbilisi City Hall that the construction company has applied for permission. City Hall refrains from specifying other details.

Police has questioned Giorgi Chanturia, Director at “EL Group” constriction company, at the Didi Dighomi police department. “EL Group” is the company that built the apartment block in Didi Dighomi district of Tbilisi, where the deadly gas explosion took place yesterday.

Four people, including a minor, died in the exposition, according to the authorities. Eight others were injured, including six minors. The Interior Ministry has launched an investigation under article 240 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, involving violation of safety regulations.
