Alliance with Russia is a historic choice of the Ossetian people, which has sustainable grounds and deep roots, - so-called South Ossetian Foreign Minister Dimitri Medoev said in an interview with Neues Deutschland.

He said that "the treaty of alliance and integration with Russia is of strategic importance for bilateral relations."

"This treaty provides state sovereignty and security for South Ossetia. The status of the ally of the Russian Federation within the framework of the treaty strengthens our international positions and creates perspectives for sustainable socio-economic development," he said.
