Temur Abazov addressed the Marneuli Sakrebulo to terminate his authority as a mayor.
According to Abazov, considering that he is a defendant at this stage, he thought it would be reasonable to refuse the mayor’s authority.
"I consider that a person with the defendant‘s status should not perform the deputies of a civil servant before the final verdict is delivered in the criminal case. This is the only reason why I am refusing the authority. I will continue the legal dispute to prove my innocence," - Temur Abazov said.
Temur Abazov was arrested by the Prosecutor's Office on charges of degrading and inhuman treatment of Elchin Alakverdiev on June 13. The court released Abazov on bail on December 13. Legal proceedings are going on in the Rustavi City Court.
