TBC Bank Supervisory Board Deputy Chair categorically denies proposal by Ivanishvili to give up shares

No, it’s a total lie, there was no such a request from anyone, - Deputy Chairman of TBC Bank Supervisory Board Badri Japaridze told reporters on Monday.

Journalists asked whether the Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili suggested them to give up shares and whether Interior Minister Giorgi Gakharia was involved in the negotiations process.

The National Bank of Georgia (NBG) gave TBC Bank’s shareholders two months notice to remove the Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Mamuka Khazaradze and his deputy Badri Japaridze from the Supervisory Board. The NBG says its decision is linked with the cases of violations of the legislation related to the conflict of interest in transactions of 2007-2008, detected during the examination of the TBC Bank’s accounts.
