Georgia, Croatia to deepen military cooperation

Georgia and Croatia will boost their defense cooperation. The Minister of Defense of Georgia Levan Izoria and Croatian Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Damir Krstičević signed a joint declaration on the deepening of military relations in Split city, Croatia.

As InterPressNews was informed by the Ministry of Defense of Georgia, the Ministers held a face-to-face meeting after the official welcome ceremony at the Croatian Naval Headquarters and discussed the future plans of the defense sphere. The discussion touched upon implementation of the Substantial NATO-Georgia Package (SNGP).

According to Levan Izoria, Croatia expressed its willingness to continue an intensive cooperation with Georgia within the framework of various initiatives of the Substantial NATO-Georgia Package (SNGP).

Georgia’s Defence Minister said that at the meeting the sides discussed engagement of the Georgia’s Defence Ministry’s Military Police Platoon in the NATO Multinational Military Police Battalion.

"The decision is positive and from 2020, we will take part in various military trainings, missions together with NATO, including within the military police format, which is yet another recognition of our capabilities and getting them closer to NATO standards," Levan Izoria said.
