Leyla Mustafayeva, the wife of Azerbaijani journalist Afgan Mukhtarli, says his husband’s health condition got worse in Baku prison.

"Afgan Mukhtarli's health condition has got worsen. He has strong pain in the eyes. He is suffering from high blood pressure and diabetes type 2. Prison doctors have not examined him yet ", Leyla Mustafayeva posted on a social networking site.

Afgan Mukhtarli disappeared from Tbilisi in May of 2017 and reappeared two days later in Baku. Mukhtarli is serving a six-year sentence on charges of illegally crossing the border back into his native Azerbaijan, assaulting a border guard, and carrying undeclared currency.
