Kim Jong Un to Putin : I hope our meeting will be useful for strengthening our friendly relations

Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un are holding a meeting in Vladivostok.

The leaders of the two countries are discussing the development of regional cooperation, bilateral relationship and denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his hope that the visit of the North Korean leader to Russia will facilitate regulation of the situation on the Korean Peninsula. He also welcomed Pyongyang's efforts to normalize relations with South Korea and the United States.

“I am convinced that your visit to Russia will promote bilateral relations and allow us to better understand how we can settle the situation on the Korean Peninsula. We also welcome your efforts to develop dialogue between two Koreas and to normalize relations with the US, "Vladimir Putin said.

On his turn, the North Korean leader expressed hope that the meeting with the Russian president would facilitate normalization of the situation on the Korean Peninsula.

"I hope that our meeting will be useful for strengthening our friendly relations. The international community is interested in the situation of the Korean peninsula. I hope we will better assess the situation as a result of our negotiations, "he added.
