Minister of Education and Culture of Adjara dismissed over her remarks about Russian flags

Chairman of Adjara Autonomic Government Tornike Rizhvadze dismissed Minister of Education and Culture of Adjara Inga Shamilishvili from her post.

The reason behind Shamilishvili’s dismissal was her remarks regarding the Russian flags.

Young people from 8 countries took part in the march in Abashidze street of Batumi, marking the Day of Georgia’s Independence on May 26. Representatives of one of the ensembles from Russia also marched waving the Russian flags, which trigger irritation of assembled people.

Speaking with media, Inga Shamilishvili said that waving of the Russian flags is not “politicized”. She said it was a “cultural event”, where representatives of various countries took part.
