Former police officer detained for inhuman treatment of miner

Kvemo Kartli Regional Prosecutor's Office has detained Konstantine Kochishvili, former detective-investigator of Bolnisi Police Department, - Deputy Prosecutor of Kvemo Kartli Levan Lazareishvili said on Tuesday.

According to him, the detainee has been charged under subparagraphs A, B and G of Article 144(3) of the Criminal Code of Georgia, involving cruel, degrading and inhuman treatment against other person.

The Kvemo Kartli Regional Prosecutor's Office conducted the process of identification of those persons, who are accused by a 16 years old miner of degrading and inhuman treatment against him. The victim has identified one police officers today and three- last week.

A lawyer claims that the miner was physically assaulted by at least 7 police officers, who also made a rape threat against him.

The 16 years old miner was detained in Bolnisi two months ago for robbery. He claims that the police officers physically assaulted him during the questioning.
