Ombudsman vows to be anywhere freedom of expression will be restricted

Everyone has the right of freedom to expression, but it does not mean expression if it aims to break up civilians, Public Defender Nino Lomjaria said while commenting on the Tbilisi Pride Week and the expected threats.

"Everyone has the right of expression, but this expression should be peaceful and it is not an expression if it aims to disperse civilians and limit their rights. This is a criminal and we hope the MIA[Internal Affairs Ministry] will give an adequate response to the crime," Lomjaria said.

When the Ombudsman was asked whether or not she will attend “the march of pride", Nino Lomjaria replied that she will be anywhere the freedom of expression will be restricted.

“I will be anywhere the freedom of expression is in danger, I do not know where and how this event is organized, but I will be anywhere the human rights need to be protected," Lomjaria said.
