Donald Tusk reads quote from Vazha Pshavela’s letter in Georgian

President of the Council of Europe Donald Tusk read a quote from Georgian writer Vazha Pshavela’s well-known letter “Cosmopolitism and Patriotism” in the Georgian language at the international conference in Batumi.

"I want to recall one of the greatest writers, Vazha Pshavela, and his words on patriots and cosmopolites: "Some think that true patriotism contradicts cosmopolitism, but this is a mistake. Every true patriot is a cosmopolitan and every reasonable cosmopolitan is patriot," Vazha said. Some people say that true patriotism excludes cosmopolitism, but this is not so. A true patriot is a cosmopolitan and all true cosmopolitans are true patriots. Every cosmopolitan serves his country and tries to increase and develop it”, Donald Tusk said.
