Floods destroy bridge over river, sweep away cars in Mestia
Rain-swollen river swept away vehicles nearby area of Chalady glacier in Mestia, mountainous region of Svaneti.
InterPressNews was informed by the Emergency Management Service that rescuers are trying to take the tourists to a safe place. According to them, the lives of tourists are not in danger.
Davit Phaliani, resident of Mestia, says that the bridge on the "Mestiachala 1" river has been destroyed by floodwaters.
“That’s why we were against the Hydro Power Plants. This is very difficult river and it’s impossible to control it,” Davit Phaliani said.
