De-facto Foreign Minister: This is yet another attempt to isolate Abkhazia from the whole world

The statement of Georgia's Foreign Ministry on the unacceptability of international air traffic between Abkhazia and other countries is yet another attempt to isolate Abkhazia from the whole world, - said Daur Kove, de-facto Foreign Minister of the occupied region of Abkhazia.

According to the de-facto Foreign Minister, “this will not work”.

The international flights can not be implemented in the occupied region of Abkhazia (namely, at Sokhumi International Airport), since it contradicts the international law, ICAO regulationsand the legislative of Georgia, - the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia said while commenting on the Russian media reports that Russia makes attempts to open the airport located in Babushera for the international flights.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia explained that under the Law of Georgia on Occupied Territories, the Abkhazian region and its airspace are subject to a state of emergency, a special legal regime, which bans international air traffic in the occupied territories.
