Majority MP Bidzina Gegidze did not arrive at the State Security Service, where he was summoned for questioning.
Gegidze was summoned to the State Security Service for 11:00 today.
“When I received the warrant, I immediately told them that I would not be able to arrive at the agency at 11:00 on August 19. I will speak about the reasons at today's press conference scheduled for 14:00," Gegidze told InterPressNews.
According to the State Security Service, Bidzina Gegidze was summoned as a witness for questioning in connection with the investigation that has been ongoing at the anti-corruption agency since August 2, 2018.
“The investigation is related to his previous official activities,” a representative of the Security Service said.
Bidzina Gegidze served as Deputy Director General of the Georgian Post in 2014-2016.
