Chief of Special State Protection Service confirms he was questioned regarding the dispersal of the June 20 rally

Anzor Chubinidze, Chief of the Special State Protection Service, has been questioned at the Prosecutor General's Office regarding the dispersal of the June 20 rally.

Speaking to reporters, Chubinidze confirmed that he answered all the questions of the investigation.

“I gave them all the information I had. They were interested in what level and how we were involved in, as well as my personal participation. I am the head of the Special State Security Service, one of the most important objects of protection of which is the Parliament, so I think it's out of question why I was there. I gave orders only to the officers of the Special State Security Service. Of course, I have not ordered to shoot bullets”, Chubinidze said.

As for the use of lethal bullets, Anzor Chubinidze alleges no lethal bullets have been used.

“It is better to ask these questions to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. My employees did not have weapons”, he said.
