According to Nana Lortkipanidze, a cousin of historian Giorgi Otkhmezuri, after the public uproar over the pardoning of Davit Otkhmezuri’s murderer, the President's Administration contacted the family and expressed concern, saying that Salome Zourabichvili "did not know who the victim was."

As Lortkipanidze told Ambebi.ge, "It is another tragedy that the President did not know what she was signing."

"The President's Administration contacted us and said that the President did not know that she had pardoned Davit Otkhmezuri’s murderer. This is even a bigger tragedy, what does it mean? Does not the President know what she is signing? You know, this is another tragedy!

A representative of the administration said that the President was sorry and that she did not know who the victim was. This is nonsense”, Nana Lortkipanidze said.

President Salome Zourabichvili pardoned the murderer of Davit Otkhmezuri, the son of historian Giorgi Otkhmezuri, on August 28.
