Irakli Antadze: The issue of provocative actions of the occupation forces in the forests near Chorchana and Tsagvli was strictly raised at Ergneti meeting

None of the participants of the meeting has said that no dialogue resource is left, so consultations will continue, - Irakli Antadze, Deputy Director of the Analytical Department of the State Security Service of Georgia, stated after another technical meeting in Ergneti.

According to him, the developments ongoing near Chorchana and the provocative activities taking place there were discussed at the meeting. However, Antadze said that the positions remain unchanged after the meeting.

“There was a demand again to abolish the standard police checkpoint, and we explained once again that the checkpoint was on the territory controlled by the central government. Police forces providing security on the ground may not pose any danger to local population.

The issue of provocative actions of the occupation forces in the forests near Chorchana and Tsagvli was strictly raised and we also assessed yesterday's incident,” said Irakli Antadze.

As Antadze said, the detention of EUMM representatives in the vicinity of the village of Tsnelisi was alarming.

“The only international observer mission in the region has been prevented from carrying out its activities, which is a very alarming fact.

It should aslo be noted that none of the participants of the meeting has said that no dialogue resource is left, so consultations will continue. I cannot confirm the exact date when the next meeting will take place, but we agreed that this meeting will be held in the near future,” said Irakli Antadze.

As for the temporary restrictions along the occupation line, according to Antadze, they are security measures and do not have any other purpose.

“As for the issue of the closure of Akhalgori, the occupation forces directly linked this with the developments in Chorchana and restricted the right of the local population. The closure affected only the local population and interfered with their daily activities,” Irakli Antadze said.

According to him, the solution is simple - provocative actions must be stopped in the territory controlled by the central government. In addition, the EUMM should be given the opportunity to fully fulfill its mandate.
