Tbilisi Deputy Mayor : There is no plan to increase public transit fare

There is no plan to increase public transit fare, Deputy Mayor of Tbilisi Maia Bitadze said in her interview with InterPressNews.

She said that the City Hall will continue to subsidize social projects in public transport in the future.

“We are loudly announcing that there is plan to increase public transit fare. The state will continue to subsidize public transport, even though we are making a large capital investment and will continue to do so next year, too. The state spends GEL 70-90 million annually to subsidize both subway and buses. All benefits will be maintained in the future and the increase in public transport fares is not on the agenda, although it requires huge capital expenditures, but it should be done by the state, ”Bitadze said.
