MP Dachi Beraia: Some majoritarian MPs want to introduce a two-chamber parliamentary system after 2020

Some majoritarian MPs want to introduce a two-chamber parliamentary system after 2020.

According to Georgian Dream lawmaker Dachi Beraia, their proposal implies not a fully majoritarian system but an American electoral model, and it will require constitutional changes.

As for the record in the constitution, according to which, a two-chamber parliament will be introduced in Georgia only after de-occupation, Dachi Beraia says that the electoral system will be revised after the Georgian jurisdiction is extended to the occupied territories.

According to him, there are difference of opinions on the issue in the team, namely parliamentary majority leader Mamuka Mdinaradze strongly opposes the idea.
