Lithuanian MEP : I call on the ruling coalition to release the political prisoners detained in June

We are witnessing today's political situation that could turn into a crisis. In order to end this crisis, we call on all parties to engage in dialogue, Lithuanian MEP Petras Austrevicius said after a meeting held at the Biltmore Hotel in Tbilisi on Sunday.

“We appreciate the voice of the united opposition and call on the authorities to be responsible and open for cooperation. The crisis must be resolved through dialogue. We urge the authorities to take the recommendations of ODIR into consideration regarding the elections. My recommendation, as a reporter for the Eastern Partnership, is that elections are a key criteria for democracy and a fundamental condition of our future relations. Those who do not understand the criteria of democracy are mistaken. Our message is clear and we expect the dialogue to be fruitful. I call on the ruling coalition to release the political prisoners detained in June of this year.
