State Security Service releases statement regarding doctor Vazha Gaprindashvili’s imprisonment

The State Security Service, based on information received through the EUMM's hotline, confirms the prolongation of illegal imprisonment of Georgian citizen Vazha Gaprindashvili in the occupied Tskhinvali region, State Security Service said in a statement on Friday.

The illegal imprisonment of Vazha Gaprindashvili is the part of the illegal policy and the occupation regime is fully responsible for it. This decision oned again demonstrates fundamental human rights violations in the occupied region and fragile security situation on the ground.

The State Security Service will continue its efforts to ensure the release of Vazha Gaprindashvili and to inform international organizations and partner countries of Georgia about this illegal decision, "the statement read.
