Police detain one person for dissemination of information on private life

The officers of Shida Kartli Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of operative-search and investigative activities detained T.G. (DoB 1996) for unlawful obtaining, storage, use and dissemination of information concerning private life and failing to comply with requirements and obligations provided by restraining order.

As the Interior Ministry said, the investigation established that detainee asked his former girlfriend – A.G. (DoB 2001) to restore relations and verbally assaulted her on the regular basis, owning to which restraining order was issued by police against T.G. on the fact of psychological violence committed on the grounds of gender discrimination.

The detainee violated requirements of the restraining order and asked A.G. to restore relations. After the proposal was rejected, video material depicting private life of A.G. was illegally made public and disseminated through social media.

The investigation is in progress under the article 3811 I part and article 1571 I and II parts of the Criminal Code on the fact of unlawful obtaining, storage, use, dissemination of or otherwise making available personal or family secrets or information on private life or personal data and non-performance of the requirements and/or obligations provided by a protective or restraining order.

The committed crime envisages from 5 to 8 years of imprisonment.
