Archil Talakvadze : If we fail to agree on a new electoral model, the elections will be held under the existing mixed system

If the opposition does not agree and we fail to agree on a new electoral model within this dialogue, we all know what will happen - elections will be held under the existing mixed system, Parliament Speaker Archil Talakvadze told reporters.

According to him, the ball is still in the opposition’s court.

"We have offered a compromised version - 100/50- to the opposition, where the number of proportional mandates is growing sharply and the number of majoritarian seats is decreasing. We are also preparing for the next round of dialogue with the political opposition. The ball is still in the opposition’s court. In the next round, we expect specific discussion of this offer. If the opposition does not agree and we fail to agree on a new model within this dialogue, we all know what will happen - elections will be held under the existing mixed system, "said Talakvadze.
