Salome Samadashvili: I call on the government to disclose the letter received from the US in December by the end of the day

I call on the government to disclose the letter, which it received from the United States in December, and in particular from the Committee, which is working on sanctions for foreign government officials, - a member of the United National Movement, Salome Samadashvili, said at today's briefing.

According to her, if the government does not publicize the letter received by the Senate by the end of the day, they will do it themselves.

“Yesterday we saw that two other members of Congress addressed the Georgian authorities, and they referred to a corrupt government. We heard that Washington is considering imposition of sanctions on the Georgian government, as the US support is primarily based on the principles of democracy and the rule of law. What does this unprecedented communication from Washington mean? First, Georgia is governed today by a government that directly pursues Russian interests in the country and this is happening for the first time in the history of our modern state, and second, our political partners and friends of Georgia in Washington, as well as in Europe, are awaiting political changes. That is why all letters directly call on Bidzina Ivanishvili and his government to change the electoral system and enable people to form the next government through democratic, proportional elections.

I would like to address Ivanishvili, Gakharia, Tsulukiani and all the so-called "rebellious MPs" - the choice you have today is clear, this choice is to negotiate with the opposition with the readiness to change the electoral system and make it fully proportionate, as promised, or prepare to leave the political space not as defeated politicians but as people sanctioned internationally, which means restrictions on freedom of movement, seizure of your bank accounts and property and restrictions on freedom of movement of your family members”, Salome Samadashvili said.

Levan Dolidze - Instead of focusing on the steps that should bring us further progress, we are creating new barriers on the path to the EU
