House Speaker Nancy Pelosi rips up Trump speech

President Donald Trump has hailed the "great American comeback" in a speech to Congress.

"We are moving forward at a pace that was unimaginable just a short time ago, and we are never going back!" he said.

He touted his "America First" message, calling on Congressmen to put America first.

"Members of Congress, we must never forget that the only victories that matter in Washington are victories that deliver for the American people.

"The people are the heart of our country, their dreams are the soul of our country, and their love is what powers and sustains our country.

"We must always remember that our job is to put America first."

Before Trump began speaking at the podium in the well of the House, he appeared to snub the outstretched hand of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

When Trump ended his annual State of the Union address, Pelosi ripped up a copy of his speech behind him.

Trump gave the speech on the eve of his expected acquittal in his impeachment trial.
