CEO of Euronews presents Chief of News of Euronews Georgia to Georgian media

The news of launch of new European channel in Georgia was spread in Summer of last year by Silknet. Euronews Georgia is set to begin broadcasting. The CEO of Euronews Michael Peters arrived to Georgia on a semiofficial visit and met the journalists. He briefed on progress and revealed to local media that channel now has a Chief of News. This is Vasilis Bitsis, who has the long experience of working with Euronews. Currently Vasislis is the head of Greek office of Euronews. In every country it operates, it is the policy of Euronews to appoint Chief of News himself and by doing so it preserves its ultimate value, to remain impartial and objective. “All news All views” this is what Euronews believes in and Euronews Georgia is no exception.

As a chairman of Silknet’s Supervisory Board Giorgi Ramishvili said at the gathering: “This television will be for everyone. Our partnership with Euronews will be at peoples’ service, as it is in case of all member companies of Silk Road Group. We do believe this project will be a success where opinions of all counterparts are heard and delivered, and this is congruent with Euronews promise: All news, All voices, All welcome”.

The schedule of Michael Peters is busy – what one would expect from Euronews CEO. Nevertheless, he finds time for some other different activity. During informal gathering at cocktail party he managed to surprise the invitees. After greeting the guests, together with channel management and Silknet founder Giorgi Ramishvili, he updated media about the recent progress, introduced new chief editor and moved to DJ booth, entertaining guests with various mixes of popular sets. As it appears, for Michael it is not just a hobby, at various times he performs Deep House along with other professional artists. This revelation came as a very good surprise to the guests, who truly enjoyed the evening. As for those who missed the chance, they still have an opportunity to listen to Michael this Saturday at Noble Savage Club, where he is an invited DJ performing for wider public.

Michael Peters will leave Georgia soon. Euronews CEO as well as Euronews Georgia have other engagements to pursue. News channel launch in Georgia is on the way.
