Search and rescue operation is underway to find missing Russian tourist in Gudauri resort

Rescue service in Gudauri resort is searching for a missing Russian tourist who was hit by an avalanche, the Mountain Resorts Development Company told InterPressNews on Saturday.

According to their information, tourists were skiing in forbidden zone. The company urges holidaymakers to follow safety rules.

“A group of Russian tourists in Gudauri, were skiing in the restricted zone without proper protective equipment, resulting in an avalanche. Gudauri Rescue Service responded promptly and saved three people. Search and rescue operation is still underway to find a missing tourist,” the Mountain Resorts Development Company said and called on citizens to refrain from skiing in the restricted zone.
