Health Minister : There is no risk of widespread outbreak of the coronavirus in Georgia

There is no risk of widespread outbreak of the coronavirus in Georgia, Minister of Health Ekaterine Tikaradze said. According to her, coronavirus was timely detected in Georgia, thus the risk of spreading the virus has been reduced.

“We continue our coordinated work. We have enough places to quarantine citizens who were in close contact with infected people and the citizens, who arrive from high-risk areas in Georgia. We take care that they have the appropriate conditions. Hospitals, located in Kutaisi and Batumi citizen, are also mobilized and there are several hospitals in Tbilisi. I assure our citizens that at this stage there is no risk of widespread outbreak of the coronavirus in Georgia. We will continue to work twenty-four hours a day,” Minister Tikaradze said.

According to her, 13 patients were taken to quarantine zone from Tbilisi infectious disease hospital.

“13 patients, who are not infected, were brought from infectious disease hospital to the quarantine zone. 10 patients remain in the infectious disease hospital, including 5 people (one citizen of Italy and four –of Georgia), who have arrived from Italy and 5 people (one Georgian and four Azerbaijani citizens), who have arrived from Iran,” the Health Minister said.
