High Council of Justice selects Nino Kadagidze’s candidature for Supreme Court Chair post

The High Council of Justice has selected the candidature of Judge Nino Kadagidze for the vacant position of the Chairperson of the Supreme Court.

The decision was made by the High Council of Justice at today's sitting through voting. Kadagidze received 12 votes from council members.

The Council will send its nomination to the Parliament of Georgia for discussion. In case of full support from the lawmakers, the candidate will be appointed to the position of the Chairperson of the Supreme Court for 10 years.

The Chairperson of the Supreme Council, Nino Gvenetadze, resigned in August 2018. Gvenetadze cited health reasons and the need of treatment in Germany as the reason for his resignation.
