First person dies of coronavirus in Georgia

The first case of death from the coronavirus infection has been reported in Georgia. Levan Ratiani, Director of the First University Clinic, made the respective announcement.

The deceased person is a 79-year-old woman, from the so-called Marneuli cluster.

As Levan Ratiani noted, the patient died at the clinic at 9 o'clock today. The measures taken to treat the patient turned out to be ineffective.

"You know that a 79-year-old critical patient was admitted to our clinic on March 31, who tested positive for coronavirus. She had double pneumonia, acute respiratory distress, pneumothorax and severe sepsis with hemodynamic disorder. The patient also had the history of weight deficit for the last six months,"- said Mr Ratiani.

Georgia has 156 confirmed cases of coronavirus, 28 patients have already recovered.
