EU to provide one billion euros for global vaccine search

The European Union pledged 1 billion euros for the global search for vaccines and treatment for the novel coronavirus, the European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said at the conference.
“The reality is that we will have to learn to live with the virus – until and unless we develop a vaccine.
This is why we have to join forces and pool our money and our minds to kick-start work on vaccines, diagnostics and treatments against coronavirus. We need to develop, produce and deploy them to every single corner of the world. And we must ensure that they are available and affordable for all”, Ursula von der Leyen said.
United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called for any treatment developed to be available to everyone, something the World Health Organization said would be a challenge.
