PM : Everything must be done to reopen public transport safely and as soon as possible

Another sitting of the Interagency Coordinating Council was held today under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Gakharia.

According to the government’s press office, the members of the council discussed a number of restrictions, which are kept in place by the decision of the government after the end of the state of emergency and the possibility of their gradual removal in accordance with the epidemiological situation.

"The government realizes the difficulties facing the population due to the impose restrictions, especially on the public transport, and reiterates that these steps are aimed at avoiding threats to public health and maintaining positive results in the fight against coronavirus. At the same time, the Prime Minister noted that everything must be done to reopen the public transport safely and as soon as possible, " the Administration of the Government said in a statement.

As for the general epidemiological situation in the country, there are 731 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Georgia, of which 526 people have already recovered. 3 Georgian citizens have been transferred to Georgia for treatment from abroad. 12 people have died. At this stage, 3,076 people are in quarantine, and 300 - in the hospital under the supervision of doctors.

The Inter-Agency Coordinating Council continues holding its meetings under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister in order to take coordinated steps in the fight against the coronavirus.
