PM: We must teach Georgians to rest in Georgia and pay for Georgian tourism

We must teach Georgians to rest in Georgia and pay for Georgian tourism, - Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia said during a meeting with representatives of the tourism sector in the Imereti region.

According to him, domestic tourism has its economic power and it may generate quite a serious demand.

"The Ministry of Health is already inspecting several hotels in the Imereti region to see which one is ready to host tourists. As you know, domestic tourism will be opened at the first stage and I am sure that domestic tourism will generate quite a serious demand.

The fact is that today Georgians cannot go abroad. Therefore, the first thing we need to do is to teach Georgians is to rest in Georgia and pay for Georgian tourism. Domestic tourism also has economic power. We need to learn this quickly, meet the standards, and then be ready to receive guests from abroad. It will be difficult, but it is not impossible. Moreover, we may be one of the first countries in the region to maintain this progress,” the Prime Minister said.
