German Air Force has evacuated a Georgian soldier in severe condition from Afghanistan

The German Air Force transported a sick Georgian soldier with "Airbus A 400M" from Mazār-i-Sharīf to Tbilisi on 7 June.

As InterPressNews was notified by the German Embassy, the soldier was part of the Georgian contingent on a mission in northern Afghanistan where he fell sick.

According to the Embassy, the disease is not related to COVID-19; however, the extent of its seriousness made it necessary to transport him to Georgia.

"The Georgian soldiers alongside with German counterparts have been carrying out the NATO "Resolute Support" peace mission in northern Afghanistan for 5 years. The transportation of a wounded or a sick soldier as part of "Resolute Support" is included in Georgian-German agreement", - notes the statement.
