Police officer arrested for running over minor pedestrian

The Prosecutor's Office has arrested a police officer in connection with a car accident near the village of Aragvispiri, which resulted in the death of a minor.

According to the Prosecutor's Office, the investigation established that on July 26, 2020, the inspector-investigator of the Dusheti District Division of the Mtskheta-Mtianeti Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, V.P., who was drunk, ran over a pedestrian, minor L.Z., near the village Aragvispiri. The child died while being taken to the hospital.

The investigation is ongoing under Article 276, part 7, of the Criminal Code of Georgia. All necessary investigative and procedural activities are being carried out.
